Brief Description:  Fiberglass Windscreen Bezel Fabrication - Part 03

I mixed up a batch of pure resin and neatly applied it over the top of the freshly sanding fiberglass layup. This fills in a lot of the pin holes and gives a nice smooth finish and let's you do one more contour sanding job.

The next day, it was back to sanding. I carefully sanded down to the last layer of black tape and then contoured everything nicely. Once that was complete, I added a few coats of primer to be sure that I'd sanded enough.

I'm extremely happy to report that this second try came out nearly perfect! Both in terms of symmetry as well as quality of contour and finish. As you can see from the photos, it definitely came out really custom and the contours blend very nicely with the shape of the canopy and windscreen.

Whew!! Easily the most stressful job on the whole project except for maybe drilling the canopy to the canopy frame - for the second time!

Once again, it seems like so many things on this project it takes two tries to get it right. At least this one just took time and motivation...
