Brief Description:  Unpacking Those Giant Crates - Part 01

After I returned the mega-forklift to the rental store, the mega-task of uncrating the new fuselage and other parts remained. While I was driving home from the rental place, I started getting a few rain drops on my windshield! Just great... Fortunately, it was short lived and there wasn't any more rain the rest of the afternoon. We got out the electric screw driver and a hammer and a giant screwdriver and started wacking away at the giant crates. Lots of fun stuff inside and, best of all, everything was in perfect order and there was no damage of any kind. While I was unpacking, I was of conflicting emotions. On one hand, I always like getting high-tech presents and I do really enjoy the building process, but the thought of the reason behind it and just how much work its going to be to just "get back to where I was" a month ago is kind of disheartening. I do have to say, though, that the 23 months I spent building the RV-8 the first time was probably the most enjoyable time of my whole life. So, once I get started, this will no doubt just be an extension of that pleasure!

Now I have to take the new fuselage out on the lawn and give it a good bath. There is a thin coat of sealing oil all over the inside and outside that is not only greasy but smells kind of funny too. If the rain will stop this afternoon, maybe I can get out there and get that done. Rain in June; that's crazy...
