Brief Description:  Rudder Pedal & Cable Assembly - Part 01

The next logical thing to install after the Brake Lines was the Rudder Pedal and Cables, since the Brake Master Cylinders are a part of the rudder pedal assembly. Getting the rudder pedal assembly out of the old fuselage wasn't too hard, but as it turns out, the rudder cables will only come out of the fuselage from the front to the back. That meant that I had to disassemble the rudder cables at the rear rudder pedal fork mount. Not that big a deal, but still more work than necessary it seems like. Deinstalling and installing the actual rear rudder pedal fork mounts is a lot more work that it should be as well. One of the bolts and nuts to mount them is inside the gear tower is right in the acute angle area in the corner where its impossible to see or get a wrench. I fought with this for quite a while but finally got the bolts out. When I reassembled on the new fuselage, I decided to try put the bolts in from the gear tower side and putting the nuts on the outside. Ah, wow! That's a lot easier! Except maybe for trying to find the hole for the bolt without being able to see. (Insert crude comment here.)

After the rear rudder pedal forks were done, the installation of the front rudder pedal assembly went pretty smoothly. At the tail end where the cables come out of the fuselage, I drilled off the after-market protective covers from the old fuselage and then installed them on the new fuselage. All and all they came out very nice especially for a redo.

So, that completes the rudder pedal and cable assembly. Amazing how fast this project is going! Only 1135 more hours to go...
