Brief Description:  Flap Weldment, Motor & Sensor Mounted - Part 01

This would have been a little quicker installation if the QB builders had installed the right nutplates. The rear set of nutplates to mount the flap weldment to the fuselage are pre-installed by the QB builders. However, they installed #8 units instead of 3/16" units. I couldn't figure out why the bolts weren't going in. Finally I figured out what the problem was and drilled the #8's out and installed the correct 3/16" units. I also did notice that on the right hand side, they DIMPLE countersunk the .063" angle which is quite a feat, but worse, they didn't dimple the platenut, so not only was it the wrong size but it was kind of off at an angle. Pretty much an epic fail on the QB builder's part. Later, I also noticed that the QB'ers had installed #8 platenuts for the control column bridge between the pilot's seatbelt attachments.

Something that really bothered me about the first fuselage was how the seat belt mounts obstructed the installation of the flap weldment nylon blocks and in particular the bolts. It was kind of a mess the first time.

This time I realized that I could remove the three bolts holding the seatbelt attachment brackets and then remove the brackets and grind off the tab that was causing the obstruction! Yahoo. Now its really easy to get the nylon blocks and bolts installed.

The flap motor installed pretty easily. This time, I paid better attention to the angles of the flap position sensor and I think its aligned better and should provide a more accurate reading long term.
