Brief Description:  Bending The Trailing Edges - Part 01

Recall that I mentioned over-bending the trailing edges of the original elevators. I wasn't going to make that mistake again this time. I built a sweet bending jig out of two super-straight pieces of oak planks and a long piano hinge. I taped the elevator skin in with lots of blue painter's tape and then carefully and incrementally bent the whole thing down with a series of large C clamps. A little turn on the left, a little turn on the right, etc, etc, etc, until it was nicely bent. The left elevator has the trim tab cut out and requires two tabs to be bend down as well. Its kind of a trick, to say the least, to bend the trailing edge without making a mess of those little tabs. But amazingly, the whole thing came out pretty awesome. The top to bottom alignment was nearly perfect. I was very pleased. Glad I did it three times...
