Well, it took three tries on most of the parts to finally get one I considered acceptable, but I'm happy to report that the new Canopy Tee-Rail installation is finally complete! I do not remember this being so hard the first time around, but on the other hand, it didn't come out nearly as nice either. I had a heck of a time with the rear black nylon tee-block and getting the holes for the pin drilled in the right place. Oddly, there is no guidance on the plans as to where to drill the holes! There is just a drawing of the block with a hole drilled in it. As it turns out, if you "center" the hole in the square area where the pin hole goes, its WAY too low and the main alignment pin will drag on the aluminum tee-rail and leave a big scratch! Ask me how I know... So I got another $12 tee-rail nylon block and drilled the holes higher this time. Nope, still too low! Unbelievable. So, the third time was the charm. I now have a nice 1/8"+ clearance now between the tip of the alignment pin and the top of the aluminum tee-rail. Whew.
The other part that was quite a pain was the nylon block that mounts to the fuselage bulkhead and accepts the 45 degree vertical alignment pin. I measured everything three times and still managed to drill the two #6 mounting screw holes all miss-aligned and crooked. Fortunately, I was able to get another nylon block and increased the hole size of the holes and screws to #8 and ended up with a nearly perfect alignment! The countersink for the flush screw heads on the block came out perfect as did the counter bore on the backside for the #8 nuts.
