Brief Description: Lexan Instument Panel Mockup - Part 2
So far there are only two very minor adjustments to be made before the final metal panel will be cut including increasing some of the mounting holes to #8 and slightly decreasing the size of the flange cutouts around the SL-30 nav/com. Everything else fits PERFECTLY!!! I trial fit each of the instruments into the panel making sure there was sufficient clearance around each one. When I was laying out the instrument panel in the CAD program, I increased the cutout size by .005" to allow for easy sliding in and out. That seems to be the perfect amount as all of the instruments are relatively easy to take in and out but there is no noticeable swimming around within the cutout. Behind the panel, there appears to be plenty of room to get tools in to mount the various parts and tighten screws.
