Brief Description:  VP-200 CU and EIS-4000 Mounting - Part 1

Since there was too much electrical equipment to mount in the back of the instrument panel area, the next best spot would seem to be the front of the second bulkhead. This area is also considered the front "baggage" area and adding equipment here sort of limits the functionality of the space for baggage. Since the plane is probably going to be a bit on the nose-heavy side anyway with the larger engine and lots of avionics, there wouldn't be a lot of stuff that could be stowed there in practicality.

I added a number of lightening holes to the second bulkhead to allow for wiring to pass through and also to access the back of the instrument panel just in case. There are two 3.125" holes under the VP-200 Control Unit that are normally covered, but it will be a lot easier to unscrew and remove the CU than to remove the instrument panel to simply tighten a screw or something.

I also mounted the GRT EIS-4000 with the face toward the baggage area. Since nearly all configuration can be done from the EFIS heads-up units, there isn't much need to access the screen of the EIS. That being said, I'm sure there will be some configuration or something that is required at some point and simply opening the baggage door and adjusting should be pretty easy. It also opens a square 2.5" x 5" hole in the #2 bulkhead where by more access to the back of the instrument panel can be had if necessary.

Other items that were mounted include the XM WX weather receiver (black box) and the Kenwood HD Radio receiver and rear LCD screen Video processor (silver box).

All-in-all I'm very pleased with the layout and functionality.
