Brief Description:  Instrument Panel Final Wiring - Part 3

The unit also has a Lithium Battery pack that lasts 5 years when not activated and 78 hours transmitting on all three frequencies. At $1980 the thing is way over priced, but you have to have an ELT and you might as well have a good one. I plan to do a fair amount of cross-country flying and that will include flights over some pretty rugged territory. The piece of mind will be worth it.

Anyway, the reason I mention all of the about the ELT was because the GPS input on the unit required that I cut into the instrument panel harness and tap into the GPS signal that is currently feeding the Autopilot, FuelChec DX, and VP-200 DU. What a pain. I don't want to be doing that kind of stuff too often.

Next up, I will be making some modifications to the radio stack tray mounts to make more room in the back of the panel. This will allow much easier access to the connectors on the back of the SL-30 Nav/Com which currently are nearly impossible to connect and disconnect without partially removing the radio.
