Brief Description:  Adding EIS to the Emergency Bypass - Part 1

I was testing out the Emergency Bypass Switches (EBS) this weekend, when I realized that I had forgotten to account for the EIS (Engine Instrumentation System) in the lineup. The EBS are used if there is an in-flight failure of the VP-200 electrical system and provides power through a completely redundant connection to the battery. I had added EBS for the primary EFIS, GPS1, NAV/COM, and Intercom, but suspiciously missing was the EIS box. This meant that in an emergency situation where the VP-200 electrical system failed, I would have flight instrumentation backup and communications, but no the engine information.

It was kind of late in the wiring game to be cutting in new circuits. Most of the bundles are tied up now and adding another circuit was going to be a challenge. Fortunately, I had one side of the DPDT switch used for the Intercom EBS that was unused. Ultimately, all I had to do was pull two additional 20awg wires from the bundle going to the EIS behind the panel down to the right hand console, then tap into the 2 amp breaker power for the Intercom EBS. All-in-all it went pretty well and I didn't have to "hack" too much to get things up and working.

I also took the opportunity to upgrade the silk screen layout for the right hand console, adding the new EIS circuit to the existing Intercom switch. I also moved the primary switch label from *under* the switch to the *top* of the switch which I have found far more intuitive when looking for the switches. I also changed the size of some labeling fonts for better readability and overall integration with the rest of the labels.
