Once I had the circuit breadboarded, interfaced to all the various components, and debugged, I transferred the whole circuit to a matrix PC board. I cut the board to fit perfectly into the smallest plastic project box from Radio Shack, and then soldered all of the parts to the PC Board. I interconnected all of the various components using standard solid hook up wire, color coding the +5v connections in Red, Ground in Black, +12v in Yellow, and all signals in Green. Once the circuit was finished, I added a high-density DB15 connector, and then mounted everything into the project box.
Mounting the project box to the front baggage area fuselage bulkhead was pretty straight forward with the help of some #6 rivnuts and four rather long #6 screws that hold the lid on the box as well as the box to the bulkhead.
Pulling all of the wires for the various signal connections to the HX Display 1, VP-200 display unit, EDS O2D2, EIS-4000, Oxygen Tank valve, Oxygen Tank transducer, and power and ground was quite a task. I've got all of the wiring harnesses pretty much all bundled up now so getting "a couple more wires" in there isn't the easiest thing in the world to do. But, I'm glad that the fuselage interior isn't painted yet so I could still get to most places and drill a couple new holes here and there.
Once all the wires were pulled and cables all redressed, the last step was to terminate them all at the new Oxygen Switching box on a mating high-density DB15 connector. I wanted the leads short, so soldering them in those tight quarters was a trick, but it came out nice and all leads are also labeled with the Brady heat shrink labels. I added some additional spiral wrap to the new cables including the oxygen line that goes from the oxygen tank all the way back to the EDS O2D2 in the cabin area (blue tube).
