Brief Description:  Routing #2 AWG Battery Cable - Part 1

Routing the huge #2 AWG battery cable that snakes its way up from the battery contactor output all the way up through the main spar, left gear tower, and finally through the firewall was somewhat of a challenge, but turned out to be a bit easier than I thought it would. As I mentioned in an earlier report, drilling through the left fuel take vent line was only a minor setback... ;-(

I have a slick new tool that I use to crimp those giant #2 connectors on the end and then I used a propane torch and solder to make the connection extra rugged. The final touch was a bit of heat-shrink tubing.

I used little padded clamps along the whole cable route to keep it in place and supported. Not sure if this is necessary, but once again piece of mind is worth it.

So, that finishes the first major cable installation. Next up are a number of shorter #2 AWG pieces between the battery and contactors and also the two connections to the GPU plug.
