Brief Description:  Designed Right Hand Console Layout - Part 2

I printed out a scale version of the new layout on a full-sheet of sticky--back "label" paper, cut it out carefully on an Xacto paper cutter, then stuck it right to the top of the metal console over the top of the blue vinyl protective covering. Next the console was clamped into the drill press and carefully all the various hole sizes where drilled out. Since the blue vinyl removes easily from the metal, pulling off the label template was a snap and didn't leave any messy glue behind! Sweet.

Since the face plate for the intercom is this really cheesy piece of punched out metal, I just went ahead and exactly reproduced the silk screen layout including the PS Engineering logo for the PM3000 Intercom on the actual console layout. The unit will be mounted behind the console with two screws and no bezel will be needed! Saved another ounce!

All and all, I am extremely pleased with the console. I can hardly wait to have it power coated and silk screened. For now, I printed out the silk screen layout on a piece of paper, laminated it, and then cut out all of the holes with a couple of leather punches. Looks just like the real thing!
