Brief Description:  Wheel Pant Installation Part Duex - Part 02

The pants are very sturdy and the mounts hold them onto the gear very tightly. Removing them is pretty straightforward and takes only a couple of minutes. I haven't yet tackled the fabrication of the fiberglass blister to go over the brake caliper. I've ordered special pre-made intersection fairings that will go between the gear leg and the wheel pant and also between the gear leg and the fuselage. The theory is that these pre-made units will simply require a bit of trimming and that's it. The Van's instruction manual would have you use modeling clay to "mold" the fairings first, then do fiberglass layups to "mold-in-place" the requisite set of fairings. Ah, can you say "too much work"? Yeah, no kidding. Hopefully the pre-molded units are of acceptable quality. They are suppose to arrive next week some time.

As you can see from the picture sequences, the wheel pants look awesome installed! This is also the first time the fuselage has actually been up on the gear normally. I have to say it looks absolutely REDONKULOUS! (Here's the Urban Dictionary definition of "redonkulous", in case you didn't know what it means: What Is Redonkulous)
