Brief Description:  Front & Rear Throttle Quadrant Install - Part 1

I installed the front Throttle quadrant today and it came out nearly perfect. I *really* like the fit of the round-y top verses the flat top. You can see the older flat-top unit in the one picture where the front quadrant is being installed and the green pushrods are being plugged into the fuselage bulkhead. I spent a fair amount of time getting the rear-to-front quadrant pushrod holes cut and filed down. The fit is good. I wish the holes weren't so large, but I just really needed the size to make installation easier. If the holes were smaller, I would seriously risk scratching the paint on the pushrods and around the holes during final installation.

I also used some really sweet "Eyeball" adjustable ports on the firewall to get the Throttle/Mixture/Prop cables through. I had to drill out the silver eyeball to 21/64" to get them to fit around the green pushrod jacks which was a serious pain in the rear, but alas it is done. They are really sweet in that you can adjust the angle of the pushrod as it goes through the firewall which makes installation easier and also reduces the stress on the cable.

I had to fabricated up two rigid pushrods to go from the rear-to-front quadrants. They came out very nice and are very sturdy. I drilled an extra set of holes in the Throttle and Prop control arms both front and back to support the new rigid pushrods.

Interconnecting everything up was too hard. I did have to figure out a couple of techniques to get the clevis pin installed from the back so that I could put the cotter keys in on the visible side.
