Brief Description:  Fitting The Lower Cowling - Part 1

Fitting the lower cowling to the firewall was nearly the same process as the top cowling. There are four hinges instead of two and you have to negotiate the exhaust port on the bottom. I am happy to report that the butt-joints on the lower cowling came out nearly perfect. Again, the Dremel #409 cutoff wheel is the tool of choice here followed by only a small amount of filing. Marking exactly and precisely is definitely the key to success here. Drilling the hinges into place was again similar to the upper cowling. I was able to actually rivet the lower cowling hinges to the fuselage at this time since the fuselage skins are complete.
