Brief Description:  FWF Fuel Line Installation - Part 1

HOBBS Meter: 1601 Building Hours Since June 4 2008

The fuel line installation is pretty straight forward. With the Van's Firewall-Forward Kit, all of the hoses are supplied already cut and terminated and firesleeves added. I had to add a firewall reinforcement plate that I had forgotten when I originally had installed the 3/8" blue AN fitting in the firewall and the Green Loctite really did its job at holding the bulkhead nut into place. Fortunately, I had a spare fitting as the original one was pretty thrashed by the time I got it out. Craig came over and gave me a hand with the riveting.

For the fuel line routing, there is a hose from the firewall AN fitting to the fuel pump, another from the fuel pump to the throttle body, and finally another one from the throttle body to the injector distributor on the top of the engine.

At the output of the fuel pump, Van's supplies a restricting "tee" fitting that allows you connect up a fuel pressure transducer. I have these transducers mounted on the firewall on a transducer tree. The large VDO fuel pressure sender is for the GRT EIS-4000 system, and the small round transducer with all the coupler fittings is for the Matronics FuelChec DX.

All in all, the fuel lines went in pretty easy. One less thing to do...
