The Exhaust Gas Temp (EGT) probes are put directly into the exhaust valve port by drilling a 1/8" hole about 1.5" down the exhaust pipe and inserting the probe directly into the flow. The probe is held in place using a special hose clamp. As with the CHT probes, there is one per cylinder so that the pilot can monitor all four temperatures at the same time for correct leaning procedures.
