Brief Description:  EGT & CHT Reterminating & Wiring - Part 1

The Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) and Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) probes were installed on the engine a couple of days ago. I decided that all of the extra cable was just going to have to go and so I spent the good part of two evenings reterminating all of the cables. The EGT and CHT probes have stainless steel brained shielding which is tougher than nails and takes a lot of effort to cut though. I added new spade lugs and labels to both ends of the cables and then some heat shrink and followed up with a bit of spiral wrap to neaten things up. Now that all of its done, I am REALLY happy that I decided to cut the cable to length and reterminate. The installation just looks so much cleaner now.

I checked each probe by applying the heat shrink gun to the probe and then monitoring the EFIS Engine Monitor display for the given probe output. Much to my elation, all eight of the probes worked correctly!
