Brief Description:  Fuel Selector Valve Cover

Yep, that's right! I'm back on the RV-8 rebuild for real! It was great to be back out in the shop today, working on 'ol Ruby Vixen in earnest. I decided to start slow and did some work on the fuel selector valve mount. Originally, I had mounted it according to the plans and attached the cross member into the area using #8 flush head screws and *nuts*. But I found that was incredibly inconvenient down the road when I needed to take it in and out a couple of times. It was really hard to get a wrench on those nuts after all of the fuel line plumbing is in place. So, today I decided to follow some sage advice I once received from a seasoned RV builder at Van's. Use platenuts whenever you can! Platenuts are a lot of work to install, but that pays off in spades later when access to nuts might be nearly impossible. The mounting and new platenuts worked great and I was on my way to feeling productive again!

Finally, the original cover plate for the fuel selector valve was pretty badly tweaked in the Mishap so I had to fabricate a replacement. In short order, I could officially declare yet another component of the rebuild completed!

Yahoo! Only 1000 more hours to go... ;-)
