Brief Description:  Unpacking The Wings - Part 1

It was a big day at the 'ol Livermore Skunk Works today. The time had finally arrived to unpack the wings from their crate, wash them up, and rearrange the shop to fit everything back in. My plan was to arrange things such that I could, down the road, relatively easily install the wings onto the fuselage for rigging and faring work. This meant that the fuselage had to be located pretty much in the center of the shop which tended to limit the amount of space available on each side. Despite this, things worked out pretty well.

Craig came over today to lend me a hand with all the excitement. The wings and control surfaces are covered with a protective oil coating for the boat ride over from the Philippines or Malaysia or where ever they came from. Its pretty sticky and needs to be washed off. So, we unpacked the wings and setup a wing washing station in the front yard.

I'm happy to report that everything looks great all uncrated and cleaned up, and we were able to come up with a good scheme for fitting the wings back into the shop such that I can work on both of them at the same time. Thanks again to Craig for spending the day helping me out!
