Brief Description:  Riveting The Bottom Wing Skins - Part 1

Well, it took 11 hours today, but I started AND finished riveting the bottom wing skins on both the left and right wings! Yahoo! Yeah, that's a lot of riveting in one day... I was pretty paranoid about picking up the 'ol rivet gun as it seems something bad always is bound to happen. The good news this time, however, was that outside of a couple of little blemishes here and there, the skins came out very, very nice. I'd give them a 9/10 score. All but a couple of the blemishes won't even be noticeable after paint, and the two that remain are very small really. Since this is on the bottom of the wing, AND this is a low-wing airplane, literally *no one* will ever notice! :-)

I'm very happy this particular aspect of construction is over, that's for sure. Riveting is a lot of work and its kind of stressful in that you're always wondering when the next slip of the rivet gun is going to happen and damage will ensue.

At any rate, the wings are nearing completion. All that remains is attaching the fiberglass wing tips, adding the strobes and position lights, and finalizing the wiring connectors at the tips. I'm still on the fence about whether I'm going to mount the wings to the fuselage before or after I tackle the mounting the wing tips. I really should just bite the bullet and mount the wing tips and put that project to bed. I guess I'll decide tomorrow...
