Brief Description:  Initial Wing Fitting - Part 1

Yahoo! The wings are mounted! And it turned out to not be too difficult. Dave Bradley came over this afternoon to lend a hand with the event. Per the plans and some advice from the RV-List, I went down and got some 7/16" hardware store bolts for the initial fitting. The hardware store bolts are slightly undersized for the pre-drilled spar holes and make inserting them a whole lot easier than the close-tolerance bolts that will ultimately be used. The photos pretty much tell the story and yeah, it really does look that cool!! Dave got his first taste of aircraft riveting today when we knocked out the rivets on the antenna mount reinforcement plates. They came out perfect and Dave's a pro at bucking now.

It seemed only fitting that we go ahead and assemble all the rest of the components onto the airframe this afternoon to get a real sense of what the 'ol bird is going to look like. I think the pictures speak for themselves! AWESOME! Yahoo!

I want to say thanks again to Dave for helping out this afternoon. I really appreciate it!
