Brief Description: Fuel Tank Attach Brackets - Part 2
Friday, the replacement arrived and today I started in again on the project. I'm happy to report the both the left and right brackets came out perfect. I had a little trouble getting the bolts tighten because its too far to be able to reach both sides of the bolts at the same time, so I taped an end-wrench to the inside nut, braced against a fuselage longeron and was able to get all four bolts nice and tight with a fair amount of cussing. Next you have to drill the 1/4" bolt hole though the two brackets. You must maintain at least a 1/2" edge clearance all the way around the bolt on BOTH brackets. I drew up another little template and Scotch taped it to the front bracket similar to the way I did the rear spars. I started with a 1/8" drill and then used the 1/4" drill. I have to pull the wings off to finish adding the platenuts to the back side of the fuselage angle.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the bracket fabrication and installation.
