Brief Description: Firewall-Forward Wiring Complete - Part 01
I am very pleased to report that, as of tonight, the Firewall-Forward wiring on 'ol Ruby Vixen 2.0 is complete! Since I had a much better idea of what I wanted to do and where I wanted to route everything, the wiring came out much more organized the second time around. This time I added the new Electronic Ignitions as well, so that added some complexity because those require both power, ground, switching, and RS232 wiring.
I opted to fully wire up for standard mags as well, including the Slick Start module just in case I need to switch back to traditional mags in the future for some reason. You can also see the new manifold pressure setup for the EMags as well. I pulled it off of Cylinder #4 though a 1/8" copper tube, use about 8" of silicone tube in the middle for engine vibration, then up to the transducer tree back on 1/8" copper. I used the transducer tree to split the manifold pressure into two separate runs, one for the left EMag and one for the right EMag. I made copper nipple fittings for the silicone tubing by wrapping a small piece of wire around the end of the tube about 3/16" back and then fully wetting with solder. I slipped the silicone tube over the bump and then used a small clamp to hold it in place. I have some additional pictures of that installation that I will detail in another log.
The wiring is very compact and everything is generously labeled on each end. The final step yet to be completed is to spiral-wrap all of the wiring bundles and then strap those to the respective engine mount pieces. I also have to spiral-wrap the wiring behind the instrument panel yet, so I will likely just do all of that at the same time. Probably next, actually.
